As soon as you enter the gate take the first left onto Transmitter Road and you will find Bear Lake. Located approximately one mile down on your right. There is a pavilion equipped with a kitchenette, restrooms, covered outdoor pavilion, picnic tables, volleyball and horseshoe area, and will accommodate up to 50 people. Reservations are taken up to 45 days in advance. If you are planning a party, there is a fee and a party reservation form that must be completed prior to the party date.
Bear Lake Fam-Camp Bear Lake Family Camp is situated on a lake newly-stocked for fishing. This year, mark your travel planner for Bear Lake Family Camp – experience Interior Alaska without sacrificing comfort. NOTE: Reservations are taken only for Permanent Change of Station (PCS) Personnel. All others are welcome, first-come, first-served. For reservations or information, call 907-377-1232.
Season – Mid-May through Mid-September, due to extreme freezing conditions water may not be available until June. Accommodations – 41 camper pads with water and electric hookups and 10 tent sites. Amenities – Restrooms, showers, dump station, picnic tables. Activities – Canoeing, kayaking, fishing, hiking, biking available through Outdoor Recreation. **Please note: At all locations, Cabins and Trailers are not equipped with linens.
What else does ODR offer?
ODR manage the RV storage lot, the Fam Camp on and off base picnic and recreation site rentals for official functions, meetings, family or group use, such as private parties.
Grayling Lake Pavilion Located three miles south on the Richardson Highway across from Eielson main gate. The pavilion has grills, picnic tables, volleyball, and horseshoe areas.
Par Course Located off Central Avenue behind the Base Service Station. The Par Course offers a covered pavilion with picnic tables, grills and a volleyball area. For reservations and information, call 377-1232
Paint ball Course A Paint ball course/challenge area – the only authorized paint ball play area on Eielson! Paint ball is available at Iceman Falls resort area, near the lodge, the Skeet & Trap Range and ski hill. The course is unsupervised and accessibly 24 hours/7 days. To schedule a group shoot, introductory session or to borrow paint ball equipment.
RV Storage Lot Located at 2762 Industrial Drive, northeast of the Power Plant. RV Storage Lot assignments are completed at Equipment Check Out.
Skeet & Trap Range – Contact 37-SKEET (377-5338) The Eielson Skeet and Trap range welcomes new and experienced shooters. The range is located near the lodge at Iceman Falls resort on Quarry Road. The range has 2 skeet ranges, one trap/wobble trap range and 5 Stand. 5 Stand is a hybrid of skeet and sporting clay shooting, developed for hinters to improve their skills for game pursuit or just for fun.
Equipment Check-Out – Contact 377-1232 The Equipment Check-Out (ECO) Center is located at Eielson's Bear Lake recreation area during the summer. The winter ECO office is at the lodge at Iceman Falls. Equipment Check-Out offers rental items ranging from camping and fishing equipment to large barbecues and smokers on a first-come, first-served basis. Boats, campers and other large items are also available. A free boater safety class is required to rent motor boats.
