Extended Service
As a service to the Eielson community, the FCC staff is available daily from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to assist you with child care needs. You can also call our staff to schedule an appointment outside these hours.

Extended Lending Library hours (FCC providers only)
Mondays 6 - 8 p.m.
Wednesdays 9 - 11 a.m.
3rd Saturday of every month 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.

Contracts & Fees
The Family Child Care office does not regulate FCC provider's contracts or fees. The provider puts the contracts together and the fees for the parents to sign. Please take the time to read the contracts. If you have any questions about your contract please ask the provider before care begins. Make sure you understand the terms of the provider's contract fully to include your fees and when they are due on. Once an agreement is reached by both yourself and the provider make sure you sign and receive a copy of the contract for your own records. You may also want to request the provider's tax identification number so you will have it at tax time.

Air Force License & Accredited License
Family Child Care provides a choice to parents in the care they select by offering Air Force licensing or a National Accredited level of licensing. The two levels of licensing ensure that parents will receive care that protects their children's health and safety.  The Accredited providers are nationally recognized by the National Association of Family Child Care. The Accredited providers have gone through extensive training and observations.

The FCC program accepts children with chronic health problems, including HIV-positive children, for care and employs persons and approves individuals in accordance with AFI 34-276 with chronic health problems, including HIV-Positive.

Interested in becoming a Family Child Care Provider?
Being a Family Child Care Provider is a rewarding job. Part of being a provider is helping children grow and to provide the parents with a sense of security knowing that their children are in safe hand. The minimum requirements to become a provider are applicants must be at least 18 years of age, holds a high school diploma or GED, seeks continuing training and education, and is open to new ideas about family child care. We provide training, lending library materials, and support
to our Providers as they operate their own business. Our extensive training program teaches our Providers about child development, guidance, safety, nutrition
and health, as well as business management.

This training helps them care for their own children and those of civilian and military personnel in care. And now, spouses of active duty members who live off base and military retirees and/or their spouses living within a 20-mile radius of Eielson AFB base housing are eligible to participate in the Air Force Family Child Program by "affiliating" with the on-base program. Affiliate applicants must be currently licensed with the State of Alaska.

We hold orientation classes monthly if there are sufficient applicants. The Family Child Care office is continuously seeking providers to offer evening, weekend and swing shift hours for our active duty patrons! The FCC is always looking for providers who can care for children for swing and evening shifts as well as caring for children with special needs.
